How being a member can help you
  • You will receive our quarterly magazine, keeping you up to date with the latest developments in treatment research, news of self-help tips, contact advertisements from other members and personal stories - find out how other people have dealt with herpes simplex and moved on.
  • You will receive the following leaflets:
    - "Understand why you feel anxious"
    - "Boost your immunity"
    - "Stress management"
    - "A rose by any other name"
    - diary of events, seminars, work-shops and get-togethers
    - index/publications list (with titles of all the articles that can be ordered in previous SPHEREs)

  • If you choose, we will try and find you a ‘local contact’ - another member nearby for you to chat to on the phone or meet up with. You will be able to share experiences and learn from each other.
  • You will be sent our full 'Dates and Mates' contact list. This is a list of people who want others to write to/email/or phone them. You send in your ad and we give you a box number so you don't have to immediately reveal your address. Many of our members have formed relationships or married after meeting through this service. (Herpes simplex is so common so you don't have to limit yourself to relationships with other members, but some people find it makes things easier to start with.)
  • You will be sent regular details of all our membership activities - pub socials, workshops, to help you ‘get your head around it’, parties and talks from experts.
  • You will be able to benefit from discounts we negotiate with suppliers of helpful herbal supplements - lower prices for members.
  • Members can phone the office for advice - no more waiting for the next helpline session
